COMMISSIONERATE OF MINES LABOUR WELFARE

FUNCTIONS

  • Collection of excise duty on notified minerals @ Rs. 03/- per ton (Minimum) & Rs. 05/- per ton (Maximum) imposed under section 3 of the Excise Duty on minerals (labour Welfare) Act, 1967.
  • Provision of welfare facilities to mine labours approved by the Miners Welfare Board.

MINERS WELFARE BOARD

Constituted under section- 08 of the said Act read with rule-03 of the Excise Duty on Minerals (Labour Welfare) Khyber Pakhtunkhwa rules, 1969.

FUNCTIONS OF THE MINERS WELFARE BOARD

1.   To consider Mines Labours Welfare Schemes Financed from the Mines Labour Housing & General Welfare Fund.

2.   To consider & approve annual budget including mine labour welfare schemes.

3.   To consider & advise upon any matter referred to it by Government for advice.

4.   Consider any matter that may be placed before it by the chairman of the Board.

ACHIEVEMENTS

1)   Health Schemes

  • 12 No. mine labours welfare dispensaries established to provide immediate emergency treatment/first aid to the mine labours.
  • Provision of free of cost medicine to the mine labours at such dispensaries.
  • Ambulance facility in mining areas in Distt. Swabi, Buner, Karak, Nowshera, Haripur, Lakki Marwat, Kohat for use of mine labours at the time of emergency.

2)   Education Schemes 

  • Granted Scholarships to children of mine labours since 2011-12.
  • Rate of Scholarships enhanced for the academic year 2018-19 & onward for children of mine labours studying from Class-1 to Master level as detailed below.

    MINE LABOUR WELFARE SCHEMES IN PIPELINE

    Established 01 No. water supply scheme (Tube Well) for mine labours at Bampokha District Buner.

    4)   Water Supply Scheme 

    Transport Facility provided to the mine workers working in the mining areas of cement factories.

    2)   EDUCATION SCHEMES


    • To meet Educational Expenses of Mines Labour Children studying in professional institutions during the year 2018-19 & onward.
    • Provision of Quality Education to the children of mine labours amongst the top 50 position holders in various Boards of the Province during the year 2018-19.

    • To meet out complete educational expenses of special children of mine labours who study in special Educational Institutes during the year 2018-19 and onward.

    3)   STIPEND TO THE TRAINEE MINE LABOURS


    • 400 trainee mine labours @ Rs.1000/= per day who participate in the training programs arranged by the Inspectorate of Mines Khyber Pakhtunkhwa at mine sites.

    • 100 trainee mine labours @ Rs.2000/- per day who participate in the training programs arranged by the Inspectorate of Mines Khyber Pakhtunkhwa in the Mines Rescue Safety and Training Center Jalozai District Nowshera.
  • FUTURE MINES LABOUR WELFARE SCHEMES

    • Continuation of the ongoing mines labour welfare schemes.
    • Establishment of recreational centres for mine labours.
    • Water supply schemes to provide wholesome drinking water to mine labours in the province.
    • Improvement of public health and sanitation for mine labours.
    • Housing scheme for mine labours.
